Volunteer Opportunities

Inspire curiosity. Fulfill dreams. Volunteer with Spark.

Spark staff is fully committed to our mission, but we can't achieve it without the help of our invaluable volunteers! As a Spark volunteer, you can be the key to helping inspire a young person to pursue their interests and engage with their education. We'd love to have you as part of our Volunteer team! Check out these four ways you can volunteer with Spark:

Option #1: Host a Motivated Apprentice at Your Workplace!

By signing up to be an Apprentice Teacher, you will open doors for a local middle-school student by sharing your career! Apprenticeships are at the core of Spark, giving students hands-on experience in a field of their interest. Spark's goal is to empower students with the knowledge that they can pursue their interests, connect with community members, and discover why education will help them toward realizing their dreams. Apprentice Teachers accept a Spark student into their workplace for 2-6 hours per week.

Spark students have apprenticed at exciting workplaces from veterinary clinics to pilot's cockpits, interior design firms to photography studios. Our students are interested in professions from across the board, so we'd love to hear from you! No prior experience is required, and we provide training to help volunteers develop a structured project for their Apprentice. If you're interested, please click "Volunteer Sign-Up" at the top of the bar to the left.

Option #2: Lead an Interactive Field Trip!

If you want to help out, but can't commit to a weekly opportunity, this option is for you! As an Interactive Field Trip Host, you will open your workplace to a group of Spark students for an afternoon of exploration and fun. This opportunity gives you a chance to introduce students to yet another possibility in an interactive way, enhancing the leadership and life skills emphasized during program days.

In the past, Spark students have traveled to many kinds of workplaces including art studios, tech shops, and even the Google campus. We love to expose our students to as many varied opportunities as we can and would love to hear about what you can share with our students. No teaching experience required - we believe that when you teach what you love, everyone is a natural teacher. Click "Volunteer Sign-Up" at the top of the bar to the left if you're interested in this volunteer option.

Option #3: Support Spark's Events or Office!

Lend a hand to make Spark the best program it can be! We are always looking for volunteers to help with a variety of program tasks, from 'Discovery Night' graduation ceremonies to administrative help. If you're interested, please click "Volunteer Sign-Up" at the top of the bar to the left.
