Mentor Recruitment & Management Intern – Volunteer

Logistics: Spark is a seeking a volunteer intern to support mentorship recruitment and volunteer training & onboarding this fall and winter. We typically ask volunteers to commit to 4 hours of volunteering (1:00-5:00pm) for about 1 day of the week (Monday OR Wednesday) from the week of November 5th through February 11th (around 12 weeks total, start and end dates are negotiable).

 

Qualifications

Candidates should:

  • Be enrolled in a degree seeking program (undergraduate or recent graduates preferred)
  • Be hard-working, accountable, and able to work autonomously
  • Be creative
  • Be comfortable asking questions and asking for direction
  • Be organized and prepared
  • Be detail-oriented
  • Strong communications skills, both in-person and through email
  • Have previous internship experience (preferred)

Core Responsibilities

Spark in Philadelphia’s Mentor Recruitment & Management Volunteer Internship is a flexible and rewarding opportunity for hard-working students interested in learning about recruitment management for an educational nonprofit. The intern will volunteer to assist in collaborating on mentor recruitment logistics at Spark’s Partner Companies and support the volunteer onboarding and training in January.

Providing direct support to the Corporate Partnerships Manager, this internship is a great opportunity to learn about the necessary behind the scenes work for running a Mentoring program. Additional networking, training, and portfolio-building opportunities are available!

Projects may include:

  • Assist with Mentorship Recruitment Operations
    • Support Manager of Corporate Partnerships in facilitating company recruitment communications, fielding mentorship inquiries and putting together company-specific program pitches
  • Volunteer Onboarding Coordination and Tracking
    • Support mentorship onboarding by following up on background check compliance for volunteers, help maintain Spark’s volunteer database (familiarity with Salesforce and Google Docs a plus), and provide general communications follow up with prospective mentor volunteers
  • Orientation & Training Logistics
    • Support January mentor orientation RSVP process, training session logistics and mentorship match process
