Qualifications

Intern candidates should:

  • Be enrolled in a degree seeking program (undergraduate or graduate students preferred)
  • Be hard-working, accountable, and able to work autonomously
  • Be creative
  • Be a strong writer
  • Be comfortable asking questions and asking for direction
  • Be organized and prepared
  • Be detail-oriented
  • Be well-versed in online research, social media and the Microsoft Office suite
  • Have previous internship experience (preferred)

Core Responsibilities

The Volunteer Internship is flexible and rewarding for hard-working students.  This volunteer internship will be coordinated by the Director of Communications in support of the National Communications Team.  Volunteer interns can expect to support projects that advance the goals of the organization while building a professional portfolio.  Projects may include:

  • Writing for social media
  • Designing social media campaigns/programs/activations
  • Writing articles for newsletters
  • Interviewing students enrolled in the program, as well as their mentors to create testimonial stories
  • Assisting with video projects
  • Increasing the organization’s online presence
  • Editing and proofreading
  • Planning events
  • Assisting with public relations and media relations projects
  • Managing development campaigns
