Mentoring Matters

Mentoring Matters

Spark in Philadelphia is excited to announce the return of Mentoring Matters! This annual April peer-to-peer fundraiser aims to leverage Spark’s large base of volunteer mentors and their individual networks to increase Spark’s brand awareness and raise critical funds to support students. This is another way for mentors, new and old, to support opportunities for middle students to understand, experience and pursue what’s possible. This year Spark will be kicking off Mentoring Matters on Friday, March 30, 2018 & will run through the month of April.

How it works

Mentors will sign up as individual fundraisers on teams led by Team Captains or by creating their own individual page. Each team or individual will crowd fundraise on Spark’s donation platform, Classy, with support materials provided by Spark. Mentors will get the chance to share their Spark story with their networks while raising critical funds for the organization.

This year in an effort to increase mentor participation, Spark is setting a goal of engaging 100 Mentors to give or get $100+ through Mentoring Matters. Spark invites all mentor volunteers to either make a direct $100 donation to Mentoring Matters or join a team and fundraise by reaching out to their networks. Led by Team Captains, participants on teams can contribute to an overall team or company goal by creating their own fundraising page, participating in office fundraisers and/or by directing traffic to the team’s donation page. The 100 for $100+ Mentors who participate will be honored at the inaugural Mentor All Star Awards event taking place on Thursday April 19th. This is another way for mentors and companies to support Spark students and The Possibility Movement.

We have an ambitious goal of raising $20,000 this April. As our volunteer base continues to grow each year, the Mentoring Matters campaign is an opportunity to engage all our volunteer mentors and their networks in a collective initiative.

How to join?
