The Possibilities are Endless

You’ve probably heard someone say, “You can be anything you want to be when you grow up.” But how do you figure out what you want to be? Spark is here to help.

A Window Into Your Future

Spark brings students into nearby workplaces to learn about jobs — up close and personal. This is a chance to meet professionals from all types of fields and spend an afternoon every week with a mentor who can answer your questions, talk to you about your goals and help you achieve them. You’ll build the skills you need to be successful along the way.

A Chance to Create Something You Care About

Think about what you like. Is it sports? The environment? Fashion? Event planning? Business? Movies? Team up with your mentor to explore how your interests can lead you to exciting career options. Then, create a project together. A music video, website, business plan, community center, ad campaign — think big! We’ll give you a plan to follow and an opportunity to share it with your community.

Spark partners with select schools to bring career exploration and self-discovery experiences to students in the middle grades. In 7th grade, students travel to nearby workplaces to learn about careers, engage with mentors, create projects and participate in fun, skill-building activities. In 8th grade, students participate in workshops to prepare for high school and the high school selection process. Spark helps 9th graders stay on track during their initial year in high school. Many students tell us Spark helped them to create a plan for achieving their dreams, think about their futures in a new way and meet caring people who make them laugh, learn and experience a new world of possibilities!
