In 2016, more than 660 8th graders in Chicago and Los Angeles — the first two sites for Spark High School Pathways — participated in workshops and used an online tool to prepare for high school. This transition support equips students with the knowledge and resources to take positive steps toward successful futures.
Spark designed the High School Pathfinder for 8th graders to explore high school programs in their cities. Students use the interactive online platform to research and find schools that are the right fit for them based on school performance, location and students’ interests. In fact, 95% of Spark’s High School Pathways students said they used the information to determine which high schools they should apply to — making possibilities real. Students also use the High School Pathfinder to develop self-awareness and other skills that will help them prepare for high school.
