Spark Program Inc. (“Spark”) takes your privacy seriously. This notice of our privacy policy is intended to help you understand our online information security practices. The policy covers Spark’s treatment of personally identifiable information that it collects when you are on the sparkprogram.org and sparkHST.org websites.  

Information Collection and Use

 

We collect the following from individual volunteers:

  • First and last name, birthdate, gender, and race/ethnicity
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Address and zip code
  • Education and work-related information
  • The type of opportunity volunteers are interested in, and the skills and interests that they bring to that opportunity

 

We use the information we collect to help facilitate the volunteering and partnership process and in some cases to begin the application process for mentoring.

 

We collect the following from organizations and companies:

  • Administrator Information: First and last name, email, telephone number, address, and zip code
  • Organization Information: Title of organization, industry/field, address, contact information (including phone, address, and email)
  • Opportunity Information: partnership/opportunity type, date, time, description of opportunity

Information we collect from parents/guardian on behalf of themselves and their children, and from students directly participating in Spark’s high school transition programming:

  • First and last name, birthdate, gender, and race/ethnicity
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Address and zip code
  • School affiliation
  • Education level / grade
  • Education-related information such as grades, test scores, eligibility, interests, strengths, weaknesses, personality type, etc.
  • The type of opportunity they seek
  • Unidentifiable survey results for program evaluation in Spark’s high school transition programming

 

 

We use the information we collect to help facilitate the enrollment in our programs and in some cases matching with volunteer mentors.  This information also helps Spark to support children throughout their engagement with the organization.  If applicants or inquirers are under 13 years old, we ask you have your parent or guardian enroll you, or you may contact Spark directly. We suggest that parents/guardians become involved with their child’s access to the Internet and to our website to ensure that his or her privacy is well protected.

 

Spark reserves the right to determine, in its discretion, what constitutes inappropriate use of this information.  

 

We may obtain personal information that is voluntarily submitted through blogs or other interactive features on our public web site. Such information is intended to be made publicly available and is not subject to the protections described in this privacy policy. If you believe that someone has posted personal information about you or your child on our site without your authorization, please contact us at the address below.

 

Use of Cookies

“Cookies” are small files placed on your computer by our site that are used by your browser. Our site uses cookies to speed navigation, keep track of items, and provide you with custom-tailored content. We also use cookies to remember information you gave us so you don’t have to reenter it each time you visit our site. Spark will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to anyone. Spark will send personally identifiable information about you to other organizations when:

  • We find that your actions on our website(s) violate the Terms of Use or any of our usage guidelines for specific products or services

We may share aggregate information about our users with certain third parties. This information shows user activity as a whole rather than on an individual basis and cannot be used to individually identify you. We use this information to help our partners and funders better understand our services and also to report on public interest in the youth service field.

While we support the protection of privacy on the Internet, Spark cannot be responsible for the actions of third parties or the content on their websites. By using Spark Program Inc.’s (“Spark”) website and services, you signify that you have read, understand and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.

Sparkprogram.org is an informational website operated by Spark that, among other services, allows adults to volunteer online and parents/guardians to enroll students in Spark’s self-discovery and career exploration programs. Sparkprogram.org and information available through Sparkprogram.org may contain features and functionalities that may link or provide access to independent third parties. These links do not imply Spark’s endorsement or sponsorship of such third parties.

 

Volunteering, Partnering, Enrolling and Applying

By sharing personal information on sparkprogram.org, you certify that:

(a) you have not committed any crime against a minor, including child abuse, sexual acts and pornography; and

(b) you will not use Spark’s services or website, or your organization/company, to harm a minor in any way.

 

Disclaimer of Liability

You agree that there is no confidential or any other special relationship that is or should be formed by use of the Spark website or information contained on the website.

Spark expressly denies liability and undertakes no responsibility for the conduct of organizations/partners or individuals that are listed on the Spark website.  Spark reserves the right to screen or conduct background checks on any individuals or organizations/companies registered with the Spark website.

You agree that you bear all risks associated with the use of any information on the Spark website and any interactions with organizations/companies found through the Spark website.

Member Content

Spark reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to reject or approve any application, inquiry or enrollment of any volunteer, child or organization/company for any or no reason. Spark does not discriminate based on race, religion, color, sexual orientation, sex, or national origin.

 

Spark reserves the right to remove any information posted on its website at any time, at its sole discretion. Spark is not liable for any damage or losses, financial or otherwise, that result from removal of information from the Spark website, or from information posted on the Spark website by third parties.

 

An individual, company or organization may remove its information from the website at any time by sending written notice (electronic or regular mail) of such request to Spark.

 

Anyone who registers to use the Spark website and services is solely liable for the use of their password and account. Use of the Spark website to advertise commercial products or services, or to gather contact information for commercial purposes is prohibited. Spark reserves the right to suspend or terminate any user’s account or to refuse any current or future use of the Spark website or services.

 

 

Interactive Features

The Spark website may provide interactive features that permit users to provide feedback to Spark and interact with other users. Each user is responsible for the content of their posts on community areas of the Spark website such as bulletin boards, forums, and chat rooms. Spark has no obligation to monitor any community areas of the website, but reserves the right to remove any posts at its sole discretion. (f) use Spark’s website or services to advertise or solicit anyone to buy or sell products or services, or to make donations of any kind, without Spark’s express written approval; or

(g) gather for marketing purposes any email addresses or other personal information that has been posted by other users on the Spark website.

  1. h) users are prohibited from disregarding directions from administrators or moderators. Refusal to comply with requests from administrators or moderators may result in user accounts being removed from the site.

 

Spark Employees

Spark employees are able to participate in social media and community forums. However, Spark employees are bound by the Spark Employee Handbook and policies, as well as Spark’s Privacy and Security policies. A Spark employee’s failure to comply with these Terms of Use will result in corrective action up to and including termination.

 

Linking to the Spark Website

Hyperlinks to the Spark website may not state or imply any Spark sponsorship or endorsement of another website, publication, or service. Spark’s content may not be incorporated into another website, publication, or service without Spark’s prior written approval.

 

 

Modification of Terms

Spark reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, modify, add, or delete portions of these Terms of Use at any time without further notice. Changes to these Terms of Use will be posted on this page and will indicate at the top of this page the date these terms were last revised.
